Thoughts on Black Friday

I recently listened to a podcast in which author and publisher Tim O'Reilly said, "You don't want to run out of gas on your trip, but you're not doing a tour of gas stations."

The danger of consumerism is that it can quietly convince us that we exist to consume. But O'Reilly is correct, you don't go on a road trip to take a tour of gas stations. You go on a road trip to create something: a story. Some of the most memorable, life-shaping experiences my children commonly reflect on are the road trips we have taken together across this country.

You were made for more than just consuming for the sake of consuming. You were made not just to consume but to create. To create a story worth telling.

What are you creating?

What story are you telling?
