Yes's and No's

There will be those that say "No," to whatever it is your community has to offer. The competitive will want to reach out to the naysayers because they want to win. The empathetic will want to reach out to the naysayers because they want to understand and make sure that it is known that they care.

This is a waist of energy but it is what happens when we are self-conscious; unclear about who we are or what the values and culture of our community is. It's much easier to not be crushed by those that say, "No" when we are clear about who we are collectively; what values we are attempting to engender, what kind of community we are attempting to build.

If this is something you struggle with, I have a recommendation, Community Canvas. This basic website provides some simple yet genius tools for clarifying your community culture. Use 'em!

Spend time pouring into those that say "Yes," to whatever it is your community has to offer. Reach out to them, value them. Those that get what kind of community you are cultivating are those that will make it thrive.
