Brooke, the kids and I got back from El Capitan Canyon, just north of Santa Barbera, yesterday afternoon. I led a retreat for the Mission Gathering. It was a lot of fun. Met some wonderful people and it was a good break for the family and I.

The kids started school this morning. Paige started kindergarten and Matt started preschool. Big day! Brooke and I both got to drop them off which was special to me. Brooke just called and said they both had great first days... sigh! I was waiting, praying all day for that.

Lots going on, what's new. Work is okay. I know this job doesn't really matter on the grand scheme of things... and so I wonder if I'm waisting time I could be spending doing something that I feel really matters in the world. But, alas, it's ridiculously expensive to live in this state, this city. So, I do what I have to to survive while endlessly trying to think of creative ways to "make it work" in alternative ways so that we could stay in this city we live and cry for and love and also work for its redemption with more energy...

Back to work.
