Labor Day

I love hard work. I love the sensation of a completed task or project. I love work that emotionally, mentally and physically exhausts me. It's satisfying. But none of my work is done in isolation. Whatever I do, whether for the organization I am employed by or freelance work, depends on the hard work of others.

Labor Day reminds me that our work, whatever it may be, can't be done alone. We need each other. From people that pave streets or clean toilets to those that teach classes to those that build the machines we use every second of the day. Etc.

I love the hard work I get to do. And, yet, I recognize I'm dependent on your hard work in order to do what I do. So, thank you for your hard work.

Let's take this day to remind ourselves how much we rely on the labor each of us provides. For me, this means showing kindness and gratitude for others work. It also means, doing what I can to make sure people have the opportunity to work and are paid well enough to find gratification in their hard work.

We need each other. Let's take care of each other.
